Cargo Weight Limitation for Cargos via Panama Canal

Dear Customer,

We would like to inform you, that due to the lower-than-usual water levels in the Gatun Lake are causing severe draft restrictions on vessels transiting the Panama Canal. Therefore, carriers are now putting strict weight limitation for cargos via Panama Canal.

YML: Request to control the weight to be around 7.5-8 tons per TEU, including tare weight, for cargos to load on EC1/EC2/EC6.
WHL: AA7 service is routed via Suez Canal, so no strict weight limitation.
Per our understanding, EMC and ONE should have similar weight limitation as YML.
Please keep in touch with our loading office closely, our loading port office will update the latest information regarding this to all the shippers.

USPTI will closely monitor this matter and will provide timely updates on future adjustments. If you have any questions, please reach out to your sales representative or our team. We are all happy to assist you.
