According to the latest statement from U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, the proposed 100% additional tariffs on Chinese imports are now “effectively off the table” following a very productive two-day meeting with China’s top trade negotiator.

Bessent noted that the discussions were positive and that both sides made meaningful progress ahead of the upcoming meeting between President Trump and President Xi in Korea later this week. 

This development suggests that further tariff escalation is unlikely in the near term, although official confirmation may come after the leaders’ summit. The Reciprocal rate ends 11/10 and may change but we don't know yet. If it does, it won't be 30%, which could be more or less, depending on further developments.
